Funny how coincidences occur in my life lately.. more so since arriving in Santa Fe, New Mexico. A sparkling, sunshine-infused rain shower just ended where I’m staying in Taos, and wouldn’t you know, a little hummingbird emerged to replace the last raindrops; flitting and buzzing outside my office window! Just moments before, I literally stumbled onto Nathan Hansen’s documentary film channel and found the footage above on Vimeo. He does some lovely work… take a peak at his teasers for his Elders project – also a nice use of music and design which I admire.

I love this video, partly because it’s very similar to a series of clips I’ve been shooting since arriving in New Mexico over a year ago. I have loads of 30-60 second clips documenting simple scenes of life in Santa Fe… as if through the eyes of a quiet meditator… just waiting to be edited together in the sequence they were shot. Ahh.. I see a creative goal arising, and aa reachable one at that! I just need to wrap my design sensibilities around how to approach it and then simply allow it all to unfold – in the early months of the new year, perhaps?

In the meantime, please enjoy Nathan’s simple and magical footage of a hummingbird – a symbol for the appreciation of beauty in native American folklore.
